Sustainability Mission

At Alamour, our made-to-order gowns are produced only once an order is placed. This intentional approach helps reduce overproduction, minimise landfill waste, lower carbon emissions, and support a more thoughtful approach to fashion.

The fashion industry is widely recognised as one of the world's most resource-intensive industries, contributing significantly to global waste and carbon emissions. That's why we're committed to making conscious decisions, starting with our made-to-order collection, which consists of a large selection of customisable gowns.

By producing gowns only when they're ordered, we're not just reducing waste - we're also giving you more choice, more colours, more styles, and more flexibility. Rather than producing one style and hoping everyone will love it, we offer a range that is intentionally designed to be customisable, inclusive, and uniquely yours.

Because we aren't required to mass-produce large quantities of stock, we're able to offer inclusive sizing from XXS to 9XL, helping more women find a gown that fits beautifully.

A Gown Made Just For You

Unlike traditional retail models where garments are produced in large quantities before demand is known, many of our gowns begin production only after your order is placed. This means your gown isn't selected from excess inventory - it's created specifically for you.

The result is a more personalised experience that supports a more thoughtful approach to fashion production while allowing our team to focus on craftsmanship, quality and attention to detail.

Thoughtful Production, Greater Possibilities

Our made-to-order approach doesn't simply reduce waste - it creates opportunities that traditional mass production often cannot. By producing many of our gowns only after an order is placed, we're able to offer a wider range of colours, fabrics, customisation options, and inclusive sizing from XXS to 9XL.

Rather than manufacturing large quantities of stock months in advance, we focus on creating garments with purpose. Each gown is crafted for a specific customer, helping us provide greater flexibility while supporting a more considered approach to fashion production.

Customisation With Purpose

In addition to the variety of styles available, most of our made-to-order gowns can be altered for an additional fee - a level of personalisation that mass production just can't offer.

Common alterations include:

Adding or removing a slit
Adding or removing sleeves
Changing the back design
Changing the colour
Changing the fabric
Adding extra train length

Our stylists will guide you through what is and isn't possible based on the gown you've selected, and help bring your vision to life.

We also accept special design requests for simple styles. You're welcome to submit your ideas via our online contact form or get in touch with us via WhatsApp.

Crafted With Care

Each gown is expertly tailored using premium fabrics, intricate detailing and meticulous craftsmanship. Production times vary, typically ranging from 2 to 4 weeks during quieter periods and 4 to 6 weeks during busier formal and wedding seasons. Estimated timelines are listed on each product page.

As made-to-order gowns are produced at different points in time, minor variations may occur between production runs. This can include slight differences in colour tone, fabric batch, pattern placement or internal construction details. Every effort is made to ensure the finished gown remains true to the original design and quality standard.

Quality Over Quantity

We believe sustainability isn't just about producing less - it's also about creating garments that are worn, loved and treasured long after a single occasion.

By focusing on premium fabrics, thoughtful construction and meticulous craftsmanship, we strive to create gowns that feel special from the moment they're worn. A gown that is cherished, altered, re-worn or passed on can have a longer life than one purchased for a single event and forgotten.

Our goal is to create pieces that make women feel confident, beautiful and memorable while encouraging a more thoughtful approach to fashion consumption.

Choose from geometric sequins, ornate lace, luxurious crepe, and more. Whether you're choosing an existing style or customising your own, we're here to create something truly special - just for you.

At Alamour, we believe beautiful fashion and responsible production can coexist. Our made-to-order approach allows us to reduce unnecessary waste while offering greater customisation, inclusivity and choice. It's one of the ways we're working towards a more thoughtful future in fashion - creating gowns that are made with purpose, not excess.

Sustainability & Made-to-Order FAQs

What does made-to-order mean?

A made-to-order gown is produced only after an order has been placed. Unlike traditional retail models where large quantities of inventory are manufactured in advance, many of our gowns begin production only once customer demand exists.

Why is made-to-order more sustainable?

Made-to-order production helps reduce unnecessary overproduction by creating garments only when they are ordered. This helps minimise excess inventory, reduce unwanted stock, and support a more considered approach to fashion production.

Why does a made-to-order gown take longer?

Because production begins after your order is placed. Each gown requires fabric preparation, cutting, construction, detailing, finishing, quality control and final preparation before shipment. Estimated production timelines are displayed on each product page.

Why does Alamour offer sizes XXS to 9XL?

Our made-to-order model allows us to offer a broader size range without manufacturing excessive quantities of stock across every size. This helps us provide a more inclusive shopping experience while reducing unnecessary inventory.

Can I customise a made-to-order gown?

Yes. Many of our made-to-order gowns can be customised for an additional fee. Depending on the style selected, common customisations may include changing the colour, fabric, slit, sleeves, back design or train length.

Why might my gown differ slightly from the website images?

As made-to-order gowns are produced at different points in time, fabric batches can vary slightly. This may result in minor differences in colour tone, pattern placement or fabric characteristics. We always aim to source fabrics as closely as possible to the original design.

Can construction details change?

Occasionally, minor construction elements may vary as part of ongoing production improvements. This may include details such as stitching, lining, boning, padding, straps or zippers. These adjustments are generally minor and do not alter the overall design of the gown.

Does customisation support sustainability?

Customisation allows customers to create a gown that better suits their personal style, body shape and event requirements. When a garment feels more personal and meaningful, it is more likely to be treasured, altered and worn again over time.
